LTA congratulates Brandon Stone as the winner of the 2021 Limpopo Championship and hails the tournament a resounding success.

Limpopo Province; Polokwane: Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) wishes to congratulate
Brandon Stone for winning the 3 rd Limpopo Championship at Euphoria Golf and Lifestyle
Estate, Mookgophong on 25 April 2021. Limpopo Tourism Agency is grateful that the
tournament was a resounding success as it went well with no challenges.
The tournament heated up on Sunday, the 25 th April 2021, which was also the final day of the
tournament. The 3 rd Limpopo Championship featured top-class international professional
golfers competing for total prize money of R3 000 000.
The four-day golf extravaganza has once again proven to be a unique proposition in South Africa’s
golfing calendar as it is pitched at an international level comprising Sunshine Tour and European
Challenge Tour. The tournament had in total 156 professional golfers from over 30 countries.
On Saturday, the 24 th April 2021, the third day of a four-day long tournament, it was Daniel
van Tonder who was digging deep to keep and protect his lead in the tournament. He said, “It
was a battle. The wind was quite strong. I would say it was either a two or three club wind.
The greens were also tough to read. Some were firm and fast while others were slow. I
managed to shoot two over par, which sounds bad, but I am still leading by two”.
Brandon Stone took advantage as he posted a 69 which put him on six under where he was
one of Van Tonder’s nearest challengers going into the final round. He said, “For the couple
of days there’s been no breeze and I felt like something was missing. When we play on the
European tour, we also get a two- or three-club wind blowing. So, when I saw the flags
fluttering this morning, I knew it could be a potentially good moving day in my favour”.
As he received his prize, which JC Richie failed to defend for the second time, he also
appreciated Limpopo Tourism Agency for putting together the tournament of that magnitude.
“I managed to get over the line with a perfect par 5 play during the play off followed by a
perfect 3 and perfect 2. If I’m not mistaken it is the first one I won as a Pro. I would be lying
if I said I was not nervous in my first tee. Anyone in the Sunshine Tour, European Challenge
Tour and PGA Tour, all you need is an opportunity. For GoLimpopo to put together this event,
has created an opportunity for 156 players this week. I am very fortunate that I took
advantage of that opportunity today. There are other players who still need this opportunity
as they stayed for over sixteen months not getting the opportunity to play thus not making
income. Limpopo Tourism coming together with Sunshine Tour and European Challenge Tour
to put this event together bringing us to this fantastic venue in a special Province is a huge
opportunity. I found myself looking over the sunset with Amarula drink in my hand and that
made me happy but going back home with a trophy in my car makes me feel very special”.

LTA congratulates Branden Stone as a winner of 2021 Limpopo Championship 2
LTA in the process hosted media for the past five days for an experience at various
attractions in the Waterberg District which include strawberry picking and jet skiing at
Leeuwenhof Country Lodge, visit to Ntshonalanga Restaurant at Euphoria Golf and Lifestyle
Estate, visit to Geluksfontein Goat Cheese Farm, and ziplining activities.
Mr. Ludwick Manyama, Tournament Director at Sunshine Tour, also hailed the tournament a
huge success as it went according to plan with all the players expressing their gratitude for
their exposure to the beautiful course. “We hope to sustain this partnership as it adds a lot of
value to the sport tourism of the country. We will continue to use golf as the vehicle to
showcase the amazing tourism gems of South Africa to the world. We hope to renew our
partnership with Limpopo Tourism Agency for more tournaments of this nature, said
Manyama”.
Results with prize money for the top five were as follows:
Pos Name of Player Country Prize Money
1 Stone, Brandon RSA €27,656.03
2 Bekker, Oliver RSA €12,935.23
Du Plessis, Hennie RSA €12,935.23

The event was also supported by the Minister of Tourism, Ms. Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane
who was with the MEC of Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET),
Mr. Thabo Mokone and LTA Board Chairperson, Mr. Andrew Dipela. Earlier on the Minister who
came to support the MEC and LTA for the prize giving ceremony of this mega golf tournament,
participated in the Jerusalema dance performance led by the internationally renowned artist
Master KG, himself.
Both Dipela and Mokone emphasized the importance of media as a key stakeholder but also
that tournaments of this nature help boost the economy especially after the tourism sector
was negatively affected by COVID-19. Dipela indicated that the tournament, which is now an
international event, will continue to be supported as it brings relief to tourism in the province
and Waterberg region in particular.
The Minister echoed the sentiments by both MEC and Board Chairperson on media support.
She said that she supports every province that comes with initiatives that contributes to
tourism growth. She said, “The MICE (Meetings, Incentives Conferencing and Events) sector
was the most affected as meetings and events were no longer held due to COVID-19
lockdown. I always support this province because the leaders have vision. The Ministry of
Tourism does not function alone as the Minister works with all 9nine provinces and their
tourism agencies to grow tourism”. She called on the media to encourage people to visit
their own country especially that the country is still under lockdown.
